In June, 1933, my great-aunt led a motorcade advocating for the repeal of Prohibition. Going from state to state, the group would pull into towns, set up a truck with speakers, and broadcast speeches advocating the repeal of the 18th Amendment.
She was born and raised in Spencer, Indiana. She attended Indiana University and afterwards taught high school English. She campaigned for repeal of FDR’s New Deal. She became a travel director and took groups to Europe, Russia, India, and Hong Kong. She saved decades of correspondence. Her letters and her photos are combined with excerpts from newspaper clippings, with copies of each clipping in the appendix.
